Having an experience of more than 30 years in the industry, Rajendra has worked as an in-house legal counsel for some of the most renowned business corporations in the country, including HUL and ITC. Working in IHCL has allowed him to gain deeper insights into strategic litigation, navigating organic growth through new contracts in management. This followed as he navigated organic and inorganic growth, initiated better asset management, disposal of non-core assets for the redeployment of resources and so on.

Rajendra is also strategic in planning and securing IP protection for his firm in line with its new brand architecture. Apart from proactively finding and alleviating legal risks and advising the executive management on legal and regulatory aspects of business actions, Rajendra also counsels on certain legal implications of issues related to business as a General Counsel of IHCL.

Focussing on the development and management of talent, Rajendra is keen to build strategic partnerships and collaborates with outside counsel and attorneys. Building a better culture, process improvements as well as risk management, he uses technology as a tool for better management of the function.

Presently, Rajendra chairs as the Executive Vice President & General Counsel of The Indian Hotels Company Limited (“IHCL”). IHCL owns/operates hotels in India as well as abroad under reputed brand names such as Taj, Vivanta, etc. Being a member of the Executive Committee of IHCL, the Legal and the Asset Management functions at IHCL report to him. Rajendra’s key initiatives include leveraging technology for better management function at the 118-year organisation. Rajendra has also strategised IT solutions for Contract management, IP management, and Litigation management at IHCL.
